Buongiorno! The white Italian sun is cresting the surrounding ridges and beginning to bathe the ripening vineyards in the promises of a warm embrace. Our hosts are already preparing more delectable Italian treats of fresh fruits, soft crusty breads, sweet cakes with custards, and, of course, espresso for morning colazione. Last evening's feast still coats my lips - champagne aperitifs, crispy flatbreads, salty cured meats, garlic, tomato, followed by tuna baked tomatoes, pasta (a Milholin-sized serving spoon makes an appearance), salad with what can only be described as a liquid heaven bath of olive oil, and of course, vinos. The Umbrian region's whites are certainly better than the sweet reds so far. Breakfast, morning writing workshops, then off to Bevagna - the B.C. era awaits! The birds are singing Italian conciertos to awaken the day to come...until, a few samples from last night's festivities and walk surrounding the San Marco property...
